Fear of the Dark " The Indian Mound"

 

The new Solo skirmish game Fear the Dark grabbed   me to  get a copy and try it out, it a Lovecraft world game facing the terrors of the master of horror himself. Written by David Suki it is  a fast narrative skirmish game. As many know i have quite a few beings, monsters and other things in my collection. So after a few reads and working out some characters I decided to play the Indian mound Scenario. my investigators have located a long past burial ground in the deep woods and  realize to there horror that the woods are actually moving to attack them......

My investigators have to roll a sanity check as they  see what is actually happening, to  my joy they all passed...

Yes there my very ancient player characters from many years a go but im old and there easy to remember...(Wolff/hero, Una/ Ally and Dr Thanos /Ally

The things in the woods 6 of them come out to slay the  intruders

the monsters shamble forward and Dr Thanos decided to draw some off

Wolff hope also to draw some off

Dr Thanos faces living wood, thrashing and  scraping

Una is  suddenly facing another horror

Wolff come to her aid but is cut wide by a slashing branch

Dr Thanos struggles with the horror, he rends and pulls the creature apart

Wolff strikes hard and the  horror reals as his blow connects

Dr Thanos  smashes and  tears and the horror falls to the ground returning to where is came

Poor Una is struck about the head and felled, as Wolff eventually destroys the  creature

As he staggers back two more appear and strike at him

Dr Thanos confronts another as they swarm out of the woods

Wolff struggles against the two monsters

He  fells one and is facing certain doom

 A stroke of luck and he manages to destroy the vile beast

Dr thanos  fights off his attackers he destroys one and the second  goes in to slay the brave Dr

He also  manages to find a weak spot and the monster falls

Review: The game works extremely well and is fun, the monsters are no pushovers and the card and dice combine top create a very workable system. One thing the hero points save your characters don't forget to use them as I was in critical  both times near the end..

Good game more to come loads of potential...

(Una has to miss the next scenario , so she will be back no worries)
