I have planned to do more games and AARs this year so here we go . I returned to one of my old favourite rules systems Astounding tales by Howard Whitehouse a wonderful pulp game and works so well for the genre. also My Lucid eye miniatures shoved me into a savage land adventure, adapting the first scenario in the main rules it had native and a captured woman held by a mighty beast/ I picked Ka-zars team himself Shanna, Cave woman, Ceaser and the mighty Zabu the sabre tooth.
Yes Ka-zar is one of my all time favourite characters since the Marvel black and white magazines of the 80s
The natives a chief shaman scary lady warrioress and 12 tribes men who guard there man god the huge ape Tak who has taken Lady Mireille as his bride
I placed 3 location to search to find the neast lair only a 5-6 on aD6 would revel or the last one would be the local
Setting up the groups of tribesmen on the table i then rolled to see where Ka-zars team would arrive
the game sequence is run by cards and gives a great twist to the game either 1 miniature is moved or all per card also the end turn is run by 2 cards being turned to end the turn. It does work well.
he does not stand a chance against the mighty Ka-zar "who all he kills"
2 more join to over power the jungle lord
the rest rush to the area to stop the enemy before thye gain a foot hold
Where Ka-zar is also the mighty Zabu ho charges the tribes men aiding his master
Ceaser and rushed and is checking out the locals as the distraction of the fight takes place
Ka-zar leave Zabu to do his deadly work and powers inot the tibes men he slay one out right
Zabu makes short work of the 2 tribes men but the chief charges and attacks the sabre tooth
the tribes men are no match for Ka-zar who fall before him
the shamn uges her warriors on the female warrior prepares for battle
Zabu mauls and tears at the chief whos courage is not faltered by fighting the beast
Ka-zar stands surrounded by dead warriors untouched
Cave woman has climbed the cliff to find the last local
With a roar Zabu slays the chief
Shanna strikes the champions
more charge Ka-zar he stands and takes them head long
like the other they are no match to him
a lone trines man take on Cave woman
the warrioress is slain by the jungle lord as the shaman twists and weaves in combat with the jungle lord
Zabu free of the combat strikes bu the shamaness is fast her deadly blade wounding the beast
But as he returns the stike she is slain buy the sabre-toothed
Cave woman kills the warrior on the hill
as the man god Tak appears Ka-zar rushes to fight the beast
Tak is powerful and his blows wound the jungle lord
Cave woman jumps from the hill and delivers a wound to the once invincible Tak
Shannas spear also strikes hoe but he still stands and tears at his opponents with savage fury
a blow send Ka- zar out as Zabu charges hoping to get past the beasts claws and teeth
but Zabu wounded is also felled by the man god he is badly wounded but still leathal
Cave girl sikes and is also wounded by the fearsome beast is all lost?
another hit she is gone but shanna strikes hard and the mighty Tak falls at last
Victory Ka-zar and Zabu will revcover fromthe battle and the lady Mireille is saved from Tak's attentions..
Great fun game and does reflect the Pulp world, more i think this year loved the system and game play i would suggest to anyone who wishes a chnage or just a good afternoons entertainment thank you Howard.
