Palaeo Diet, Eat or be Eaten games

 Long been a fan of Geisha games SOBH and the other having a collection of the skirmish table top games, so when the  Palaeo Diet skirmish game   was on the LAF with some  reports and  AAR's I looked into it. Its a cave man hunting game for the table top  a band seeks food and must hunt the  animals /creatures and gain food, using a reaction roll for the  beasts they all react to the situations around or that affect them. I have a vast collection of  beast/ animals and cave people so   give it a go.

 I rolled for the locations of the beast and set them up on a 3x3 table and added 4 terrain pieces a simple test game, pitting 5 cave men against them

 The tribe of Yug enter the table, each time a miniature is activated up to 3 dice can be rolled affect the outcome for the beasts around. the party moves trying to outflank the beasts.

 The leader Tor alone seeks  honor fo the kill

 in the  undergrowth a panther smells new prey himself

 Disturbed by the hunters the panther charges attacking the closest  hunter

 the panther hits and wounds the  cave man

 Tor still tries to sneak close to his target

 the panther slays the hunter 

 as another charges and strikes hard with his club

 A second finishes it off aiding his fellow hunter

 Tor attacks a heard of wild pigs 

 Another gets close to a young bull wounding it

 Tor suddenly finds himself attacked by the pigs and a charging bull (reaction rolls the beasts attacked loads of fun)

 the young bull makes a dash but the hunters spear stops it in its tracks

 a scared huge grazer moves off  in the commotion of the  hunt

 Tor slays one wild pig as another achrage him 

 he slays the last one in a sweep of his axe

 a hunter  throws his spear felling the last  bull

 The hunters  collected only 10 food, as the rest left the table in fright, so perhaps not a very good day out and lost one of there own to the panther

 The second game as a larger 2x4 party hunting 4 mighty Shaggy Rhinos 

 I placed 4 in random on the table and the 2 groups entered at separate corners

 3 almost in once quarter so perhaps flank an get them all

 the hunters rush and  the  Rhinos react

 Tor and lak  charge forward 

 Tor seeking glory attacks a mighty beast

 it roars and all back off then  flees away into the  right party of hunters who approached

 it charges a hunter head on

 and his fate is sealed by the mighty beast  who turns and charges back at Tor

 striking hard he is wounded as lak  throws her spear at the beast

 it roars and backs off unharmed

 the right party tires to close the gap

 the left rushes  pushing the Rhino back 

 surrounded it stands it ground

 Laks spear  throwing  finds a vital spot the beast is  wounded badly it staggers angry

 another hunter  howls and the mighty rhino is scared into the the hunters again

 passing spears it seems to  find escape

 But tor charges in though wounded he stops the beast dead, victory  but only 1 of the mighty beasts from 4 is a poor days work, also the loss of a hunter and tors wounds

the heard is free. 

The game works very well and is loads of fun once you get  the reactions and how things work. very enjoyable and recommended to all gamers of this   time and  place
