Grave of the Deep. SOBH game


Found all my Song of Blades and heroes rules and files, and decided to run a small  path of games using the system and my miniatures that I like and have also never used. Played the  version 1 SOBH, and  made new cards for characters and   bits and bobs. What I always love about SOBH is it works  start to finish it is full on and make as most good Skirmish games its own story lines and fun.
 Table was some GW graveyard set and few other bits , the scenario a basic fight. 
 The sons of the Deep  Deep ones a priest Vriss a huge creature and 4 deep ones about 300 points
Lords of light Wolff  fear fang and some chosen armed and unarmed.
 Vriss and his creatures  wander the graveyard seeking victims, The Lords of light are intent on destroying there  evil plans, They enter the  grave yard ready...
 
 A second deep one  moves and  takes her off with his teeth and claws. Nearby  Wolff charges the huge beast they clash,
 He is felled by the size falls helpless.

Again the deep one come to finish off the hero, he rises and fends off the  monsters as Viss Arrives.
 
 Danny attacks distracting the monsters, as the huge deep one again strikes Down Wolff., Danny knocks down the deep one and  huge deep one as fear fang enters the fight,
  he dispatches the huge monster.
 Danny slays the fallen deep one
 Sherry is attacked  by a stalking deep one she is slain out right, her death quite gruesome..
 Fear fang does a runner at the bloodshed around
 Captain is taken down by a deep one who survives his  constant shots at the creature


Wolff shrugs of Vriss spell's  and with a mighty blow kill the priest outright , the reaming Deep ones  run for there  insidious lives back to where they spawned from. Victory to the Lords of light....
Wolff searches the dead  Vriss and  finds an amulet map for a dark mine near bye. Work to do.!!

Great game loads of fun and  as always plays very well,

"There only Giants!" Thud & Blunder AAR

 At last sorted out a test game of Thud  & Blunder from  Craig and Charles, from the Ministry of  Gentlemanly warfare, it has the basics of IHMN and Blood Eagal but if a fantasy environment  world you can game in crate your own  company's and  game with whatever you have to  play with or wish . I long wanted to try out my reaper giants so I created my players from my old  casts from countless wargames and RPG's games 
 The Heroes Wolff and his gang Una, Victoria, Chakari, Bobo and some able bodied Warriors
The Giants  Garth and his tribe of  misfits along with Gwar his pet bear. 
 I laid out a small table  and the Basic rescue the girl

 Garths giants  knew the  adventures were coming and prepared themselves, preying to the God of the mountains for   victory.
 Garth  is confidant his tribe will kill all who dare seek to steal the  prize
 Bobo enters the field scrambles up the  rocks and  motions he has found the giants
 A brave warrior charge head long but he is meet with instant death at the  swing of a tree sized club
 Chakari launchers arrows but to no effect on the  huge  Monstrosities
 Victoria her deadly poison blades slash and rend but she is now beset by 2 huge  giants
 Garth shouts for his tribe to stand fast and "kill them all"
 Warriors charge to aid Victoria but the blows land  no effect.
 Wolff charges and with a swing of his axe widow maker  A giant falls
 Garth charges and blows fly between giant anf hero.
 The flail and  club blood Victoria who smiles and  smirks at the  fight
 Bobo faces  2 giants his  position make him hard to hit
 Victoria and the warriors blow fell the giants but they still live.
 Gwar charges and  take out chakari
 A fallen giant is slain by a brave warrior
 Chard grabs the girl in the battle around
 Wolff stand his ground and his skill slays the evil leader  he falls dead
 Bobo strikes and giant falls
 Gwar charges at Wolff to avenge his fallen Master

The second giant fighting Bobo  finds his doom as the mighty Ape crushes his skull.
 Victoria and a warrior join Wolff against the huge Bear.
He falls to the blows of the Heroes Victory all the Giants slain and to the loss of 2 warriors and a hurt Chakari
As I expected a huge fun game  it creates its own story path like IHMN and Blood Eagle. Like the new creation  rules and the whole book is a great read. lots more  adventures i believe thank you Charles and Craig..

Warcry tested and Cypher Lords finished

With finished off the Cypher Lords war band, I decided to test the Warcry complete.  The Cypher lords for me are perhaps the best GW plastics I have seen they look superb when   Completed. wonderful poses and attitude, also look great on the table

 So I laid out the terrain from the bocx and card you deal, a great way to set up and composed my forces, the  rule book  gives you some scenarios and  tasks, Coalition of death I played using the rules and set up from the book, I played the basic warbands for the first try the Iron Golems VS  Untamed Beasts, about 400 points,.Rolled the set up and  placement fo the 3 sections of each team , this is a great way to  place any miniatures. the  initiative dice were more simpler than i read to play and  the game was relay good fun the Untamed  Beasts winning by 1 point. So the Cypher lords came out  replacing the  Iron Golems and the points rose to about 600, Totaly different terrain via the cards, The game was fast and so fluid. the  fast moving blades of the Cyphers were   devastating but the Untamed Beast again won 3-2 .
 So Thoughts by me???
The game is perhaps the most complete and   best composed of anything so far from GW and I have played a lot of there systems. Its fast easy to set up and  all you need is in the box complete... The plastics are of the highest quality and the Terrain is  out of this  world to use.. 10/10 from me and more games to come...
